‘Stuffed squid at La Locanda, like a breath of fresh sea air, has swept through the eating scene in Bronte and given it a lift. Not only is there a great fit-out of dark timber tables, black and white tiled floor and a wall of wonderful renaissance-patterned cloth, there's also great friendly service and a reasonably priced wine list, much from Europe's boot. But it's the modern Italian food that has us wooed. I adore the stuffed squid.'

‘La Locanda, meaning 'the Inn', continues from here with panache. The owner, with a beaming smile is Fiona Bloomer, a co-owner. Owners tend to be better on the floor, working not just for tips, but for repeat custom, though Bloomer seems to genuinely love working the room.'
