Under the guidance of Milan born and bred Andrea Vagge, head chef and co-owner, La Locanda's contemporary Northern Italian fare has proved a hit with residents crying out for a neighbourhood restaurant in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. Andrea is a self-taught chef (with help from his grandfather) and counts nine years of bar and restaurant management in London as part of his resume. His experience in Sydney includes interludes at award-winning restaurants Nove and Otto.
Fiona Bloomer is co-owner and restaurant manager at La Locanda, and also a London native. Fiona spent a decade working alongside Marco Pierre White and at culinary institutions such as Nobu, The Pharmacy and The Sugar Club. In Sydney, she has spent time at Simon Johnson and XO, and continues her expertise at La Locanda.
The pair's first venture is a welcome addition to Bronte with its affordable, quality dining, Italian inspired food served in a casual atmosphere. As darkness falls and candles are lit, a trattoria ambience emerges for diners.
